Currently the bookkeeping industry recognizes no standard credential or training.

Working bookkeepers have few places to turn for on-the-job help. Most small business owners know little about bookkeeping and are not a good resource. Bookkeeping questions either go unanswered or are fielded by the company CPA. Bookkeeper/CPA consultations are not encouraged because they are cost prohibitive.

To be successful in the bookkeeping market you need ongoing, on-the-job training and support. No course can cover the gamut of industry-specific bookkeeping tasks that bookkeepers face. Traditional accounting courses can definitely make you better at your job, but they won't teach you the job and will not be available to help you once you enter the workforce. Inevitably, you will encounter tasks and processes you do not know how to approach and you will need a reliable resource.
